Taking a break from studying. There are many type of Hindus - vegetarian (dairy permitted), very strict vegetarians (no onion and no garlic), eggetarian (vegetarian with eggs allowed) and non-vegetarian (mostly the warrior caste). Non-vegetarians in Hinduism still adhere to rules. I have tried to adapt when I am at parties, but you will not see me stuffing pork chops and beef in my face.
Here are the rules that should not be broken:
* No pork (same as Islam and Judaism)
* No beef
* Do not cook a lamb in its mother's milk (same as Judaism) - I have not seen this in sacred texts. This was passed down to me orally.
