Once again "scientists" are warming that humans aren't meant to be up past midnight...but they don't have much evidence as to what goes on in people's minds at night because, frankly, they don't want to stay up late enough to study it.
This is so stupid I can't believe it gets any press. Day people don't understand night people - okay, so what? I like chocolate and I can't imagine not liking it. That doesn't mean people who don't like chocolate are bad people, or even sick people endangering themselves and others with their sinful lifestyle. If anything it means there's more chocolate for me. I ain't mad.
I've said it before and I will say it again.
1. Day people should thank their lucky stars that there are night people like me, because if there weren't, you'd have to pray to God that no urgent situation ever arose between midnight and 6am, otherwise...house fire? Guess it'll take out the whole neighborhood, because the saintly firefighters are all in bed. Heart attack at 3am? Mmmm, sorry, the godly doctors and nurses all went to bed 5 hours ago because they're good people.
2. If I as a night person sleep past 8am I'm called lazy for resting when I need to...but why are the day people not called lazy for insisting on going to bed early when I'm still functioning? You can turn things around really easily against anybody if you have a little bit of persuasive skill and very little intellectual honesty. But I don't want to do that despite being a night person. Which brings me to the last point...
3. I never hear night people trying to use twisted logic to condemn day people. Yes, people who are buzzing around expecting performative social behavior and productivity before we are reasonably able to oblige are annoying, and sometimes we say so, but we don't use pseudoscientific smear campaigns against them. I wonder why. Maybe night people are living more authentic lives, honoring our own needs instead of societal assumptions and demands, so we are free to climb higher in our own lives instead of cutting others down to make ourselves feel superior. Just a hypothesis. And if the day people want to study each other to test that, her, that's their preferred schedule, so it should be right in line with their gifts, as opposed to cranking their schedules around to collect actual data about us night people, which they clearly don't intend to do.
