It's still happening
People are *still* getting fired over making unfavorable comments about Kirk. This really tells me that the "right" is so uncertain and maybe even scared of their own thoughts about him; thoughts that are unfavorable tward Kirk, that they need to do such drastic things in an attempt to shut down those thoughts in their own minds.
