Unions have no purpose

Given the history of union corruption , criminal and biker links unions also have no link to wage increases. In facg they are linked to decreases. For example many union government workers are responsible for vexatious compliance roles holding back the economy and shitting down private industry. So what actual purpose do they have outside corruption and destroying jobs ? And given the fact market firces decide pay increases not unions
