This movie is dogshit. I like the OG, the sequel is overrated because retards pretend it's a masterpiece and not the subpar popcorn movie like it really is. Tron: Ares however, is total fucking dogshit. Here is why.
The cast is all new people. Says a lot that the OG's didn't agree to any of this. You get poorly written, bland, new characters who are all CEO types, which really don't make them relatable to the audience. All "character development" is shown through many obnoxious montages throughout, which really don't carry any emotional impact. OMG asian woman's person (wife? sister?) died. And Gillian Anderson (Scully from X-Files) talks in a really bad fake British voice.
I saw a featurette where some doucher who worked on this film said how this movie has heart and the others don't. Bull fucking shit. The other movies had characters who behaved like people, underlying themes of loss and romance, and people actually resonated with them. Ain't no one relating to the retard dipshit breakfast burrito eating guy on this, or the Indian guy CEO, or the guy who played Jeffery Dahmer whose the villain.
The soundtrack has been the big thing hyped for this movie, which really says a lot about the quality of the film. I was at the bookstore yesterday and they already have the sountrack 25% off. It's dogshit. Generic synth sounds, that sound like a kid is just playing with the keyboard and holding in keys while trying to figure out what to do next. At the beginning, the Asian lady is on a mountain top (perfect setting for a Tron film, NOT) and this synth bullshit is playing and it sounds just like a ripoff of the intro to Mr. Crowley by Ozzy.
So, that's pretty much it. The visuals are crisp, but get old really quick when you really don't care anything about characters or what's going on. Kinda like why the Star Wars prequels/sequels are boring as shit, just CGI overload with no depth. NIN made a shit soundtrack for a shit movie, they did not show any of the creativity and respect that Daft Punk and did when doing the soundtrack to Tron: Legacy. And the movie is basically trying to set up sequels....yay?
Not gonna happen. The first is a good movie. The 2nd is kinda meh. This movie is a piece of shit with no humanity. Very bland and paint by numbers like your typical generic corporate bullshit movies that people forget about immediately after seeing it. Casual audiences aren't going to give a fuck about any of this. I didn't even give a fuck, and I'm a lifelong fan of the original. I didn't have high hopes going in. I wanted a popcorn movie that respected the other films, not sterile, dull, shit.
Retards are already defending this movie, pretending to like it so Disney will greenlight more slop sequels. Maybe it'll happen. Maybe it won't. Retards need to stop being sheep and think for themselves.
If all two people on this site who even know and care what Tron is are reading this, don't pay to see this shit. DO NOT pay $15 for a ticket, you'll be just as pissed as I am.
You can buy the original Tron and Legacy on Blu Ray for less than $15. Do that. Don't give money to this shit.

The original was remembered because it was basically something that wasn't done before when it was released over 40 years ago. Even if back then maybe some of the acting was janky. Even though the effects were a bit rough but again, that's because this was brand new territory and I actually like the rough look of those effects.
No matter how well written any of the sequels are, they just don't have the same kind if magic as the original, especially if you are old enough to have seen it when it first came out in theaters. The first was truly one of those one shot events. anonymous 11 hours ago
