Miley Cyrus and Emily Osment. They played best friends. I remember being like 14 and there was this shit on MTV about Miley's birthday. She mentioned her best friend, and it quickly (for like half a second) showed this other girl with dark hair. I was like "who are you, you strange whore?"
It turns out (SHOCKER) that Miley and Emily were never really friends. Emily was more serious and introverted, the opposite of her character, and she and Miley didn't always get along. Probably thought of Miley as a spoiled brat, given that she was the star of the show and how she and her family got all kinds of special treatment. They pretty much grew to tolerate one another when the show became a success, but were never actual friends.
There's this sad looking Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special that just released today. Emily Osment is not attending, neither is the pretty boy dipshit who played Oliver. I'm a little shocked at that, because I thought they were actual friends, guess not. Fair weather, fake friends. Like the phony people who'd talk to you in school, who were just doing so because they had to have a "friend" everywhere.
I'm really not going to get misty eyed over the show being 20 years old. I do love the show and the music. It was a definite bright spot in my shit upbringing. Funny how what I escaped to then, actually still gives me comfort, eventho my life is 1030948989484898498X better than it ever was during my "childhood." So, I'm not yearning for the days of "I'm (insert name here) and you're watching Disney Channel." I can actually live my life now, and that is huge.
