Party over responsibility

I'm a working man with two jobs. Times are tough and life is hard but I love my wife and I'm proud to be an old-fashioned provider. I'm glad to say my wife doesn't have to worry about anything from day to day. Yes, she has her own job as a housewife, so she has responsibilities, and she normally carries them out beautifully. I deal with the world from the doorway out, and she deals with it from the doorway in. We work together and we love each other. She doesn't have hours as long as mine and gets more sleep and rest, but that is okay with me. Women's bodies go through more than a man's. Even if they do not have babies, which our doctor advised her not to do because it would be too dangerous in her situation, they still menstruate and have other problems men don't face. I was raised by a good woman who suffered a lot and I vowed as a boy never to let life be that hard on my wife.

Right now I'm frustrated because she decided to have a holiday party and she is not keeping up with the basics. If I were only working 9 to 5 I would be able to bear this with more resources and flexibility. I would not mind if some things went by the wayside even now, but I am expected to come home from both jobs and cook and clean myself while she prepares for the party. It is exhausting.

I will not complain to her. She is an excellent woman and normally does her profession, keeping the home, beautifully. I think she simply got in over her head and did not realize what she was taking on. I merely hope that somewhere along the line I can get some rest and enjoy the holiday myself.

Keep yourself together, Mark. It's only a few more days. You were raised to be patient and kind. Do Mama proud...
