Online dating is a joke. I'm a guy and just recently gave up on the apps completely. It seems across the board the apps yield the same experiences for most.

You match with people like the guy you described, who put in zero effort and are so fucking embittered and self absorbed that it's no goddamn wonder why they're available.

Out of my entire experience, I matched with one person who I went out with. And they really didn't have anything there in the personality department and weren't really interested in me beyond the idea of having a boyfriend. And I was caught up on the idea someone might be interested in me that I humored this idea longer than I should have.

The other women who I matched with at various points were either creepy and desperate in responding quick, while still giving non answers and not doing anything to progress the conversation. Or, the types who have been using the app for years and are expecting James Bond and the conversation is dead in the water immediately upon matching. Where either they don't reply, or I unmatch after being tired of waiting a day for a single word response.

Either goody goody snobby types who are obsessed with religion, or crazy as fuck "elder emo" psychos who are into sick shit. The snobs need to realize they have no personality, and the crazy trash types need to get a job instead of living on the apps.

And isn't that funny when you see the same people and it keeps saying how they're active? Like you fucking know they're obsessively checking and seriously think they are one swipe away from a fairytale.
