the normalisation of (subconsious) parasocialism

ive been into kpop for 6 years now and until recently ive realized how much kpop GENUINELY surrounds my life. the reason i felt like time stopped is because theyve been exploiting my loneliness and selling delusions to me and all ive done since is consume the constant media they post about these idols. once you get the buzz of kpop or really any celebrity (but mainly in the korean industry because when have you seen a bruno mars photocard??) you get sucked into the algorithm where you start watching the music videos, then vlogs of the members, distinguish one from another, and watch old videos that youve missed if you are a sort of newgen, and since they constantly post media about these idols you can never consume everything so you get greedy and isolate yourself to consume all of these and laugh at your computer screen when a grown man is trying to be cute for money. then you start buying albums even when you dont have a vinyl record/cd player, collect photocards PICTURES OF REAL HUMANS???, get binders, sell/buy only photocards or even more albums, lightsticks when you probably wont go to their concert because youre still very young, create pinterest boards, and until you realize this subconsious shit youve been entranced in it literally just continues. i already kind of realize this when i bought an enhypen album and it was deadass a thick ass book of the singers JUST posing... and realized i woke up on certain days of the week and told myself "oh this this group will be posting another episode!" they even do so much as to create webtoons and sell you this boyfriend delulu shit so when they arent posting you read their comic instead... man i think the time i spent watching vlogs were longer than actually listening to their music. and you can see in western celebrities if someone is dating another celebrity, yes of course theres a shit ton of talk but in korea its like a fucking sin for these idols to date, as if their products sold to you and they cant date because they're loyal to YOU further emphasizing the hidden parasocialism shit. ive even heard some companies operate as cults etc which isnt a surprise but genuinely going to let go of kpop now.. reminding me of the time i knew the difference between main rapper, lead rapper, visual, and fucking hoobaes or maknaes like wdym i know more about korean culture than mine. lets wake the fuck up and get back to the hobbies we used to do before we got stuck in this manipulation. this includes the global pop industry btw.
