I remember even as a kid thinking they were a bunch of entitled assholes.
My dad was a truck driver here and there. I complained in general about how truck drivers get in the way and shit. My mom bitched at me, did so in a more sitcom way than her normal style that was horrific. Said how it put food in my belly and shit, again not like the words she'd use.
As an adult I still stand by my old assessment. My dad was there because he was too stupid and poor to leave. Maybe if Mommy had a job he wouldn't have been driving trucks off and on.
And I understand more than ever how people like my dad are in workplaces, from being around fucks who are like him.
The type who goes around insulting everyone, doing stupid practical jokes like you'd see on the TV, cutting corners and half assing every step of the way. All while acting like "ohhhh fuck meeeee. Wut I do is soooo hardddddddd" and expecting to have his asskisser like a caveman.
Well, I worked physical labor before. 12-15 hour days. Never knew when I was coming home. Always tired. Always hungry. I never acted retarded at the job and the braindead rednecks didn't like me for it.
I would be physically exhausted, different and less severe than the mental exhaustion I've had most of my life. Especially when I was still living with my parents and acting as grown up.
My time at the physical labor job, did I ever act like a caveman? Did I ever act like what I did was the most important job in the world? No.
So, I did walk in similar shoes and see more than ever that my dad's complaints and attitudes come from him being a lazy piece of shit. Just like I expected.
Truck drivers expect the world. They act like they are more important and deserve special treatment. They gloat about money and a lot don't make much.
Fuck them. They are not special.
