people’s obsession w/ being unique

i’m not exactly sure on how to put this the way i make it up in my head, but in today’s world we are all so obsessed with being unique. i am too, and am probably like the biggest hypocrite ever. we are all trying so hard to be noticed — which is 100% valid btw, but there are some things to this: one, literally no one around us gives a shit, and two, there are 8 billion people on planet earth. you really think you, out of all people, are unlike any other? you think there’s no one alike? or are you trying to be so by forcing yourself into a niche aesthetic or gatekeeping the shit out of everything? grow up, man. being unique feels so cool in concept. imagine — you’re the coolest person alive and you attract the people that fw you on every social situation. they want to hang around w/ you all the time. but that’s the thing, no one cares about a single person like that. we are all quite unimportant, and none of us will truly be unique. so people should really stop being such tryhards and forcing themselves into religiously listening to an artist with 20k listeners on spotify who isn’t even good. sincere thanks for reading.
