Nightmare Critters

I like the concept of the Nightmare Critters. But, I've found myself feeling as though I'm not allowed to. When they were being showcased during development of Chapter 4, so many people were overly negative just because they expanded on the similar concept, Smiling Critters. Even a streamer that I watch called them "shit", and said "the Smiling Critters are way better", even though they were at the time comparing a finished product to a concept. This wave of negativity followed up to a boiling point were the game released. Tl;dr, the Nightmare Critters were made VERY trivial in the actual chapter, something that PISSED ME OFF!
AND, as if that wasn't bad enough, people are out there calling the Nightmare Critters a cash grab despite them only having ONE piece of merch. But yet, PIANO-FUCKING-SAURUS gets a shit ton of merch despite also being very trivial and only having one scene in the actual game, and THAT isn't a cash grab?!
I now feel that I'm disallowed from liking the Nightmare Critters not only because of the negative aura surrounding it courtesy of the fanbase, but also because of the dev's poor actions only adding on to that.
I MIGHT be able to forgive Mob, but fuck the Poppy Playtime fanbase for ruining my enjoyment of a concept. Every time I now see the Nightmare Critters, I only see the months of pure vitriol and over-the-top hate.
