Niceness taken advantage of.

Today, I thought to do a nice deed in town, so gave a middle aged man some biscuits and a drink, because I thought he was homeless.

Turns out he was selling a big issue (deliberately covering the price on the cover with his hand and sat on a step outside of a shop; he was also quite scruffy looking, however I didn't notice him covering the price at the time, and I couldn't understand what he was saying anyway, but I didn't want to seem "offensive of race", if you know what I mean), and he said the price was ten pounds.

I gave him ten pounds, took the big issue. MUCH LATER I found out that he had conned me, only it was too late to go back and tell him because I already went home and had explained this to my mother.

She explained that big issues are always five pounds, so he took advantage of my niceness.

That's the last time I do anything nice. What a prick.

Now I feel like an idiot.
