Narcissist

It is tough to identify a narcissitic parents and in fact, it took me years before I realized my mum was one. Perhaps it was especially hard to identify this in an Asian household as filial piety is constantly highlighted as being important and at times, people glorify children who constantly give in to their parents demands. Now, I can finally see how her manipulative and gaslighting behaviour has affected who I am today and I am still in the midsts of trying to fix myself. But, it is tough and often I find that there is not many people I can talk to about this because not many will understand the full extent of the situation and I don't want to air my dirty laundry for everybody to see. I still try to respect the parent-child relationship that I was forcibly born into but other than that, I do not respect her as a person at all. Her life constantly revolves only around her and I've witnessed her throwing her own friends and family under the bus whenever she had to save herself. Crazy to think someone like this exists but they do and if future lifetimes do exist, I just wish that this is the last time we will ever cross paths.
