My Parents Hate Each Other

Why why why do my dad bully my mom. Ever since i was little i have never heard my dad say i love you to my mom. No hugs, kisses,or any display of affection. My dad would always insult my mother calling her derogatory names and telling she comes from a family of thieves and liars. If my mom does the slightest mistakes he would bring up past mistake even the one 30 years ago when they just got first married. Holding a grudge for 30 years, he is incredible. Every single time they fought, no, fought is not the correct word to describe it. It is always one sided with my dad berating my mom for every mistake she has ever made and if my mom tries to answer him back, it would always made things much much worse. The entire family always know to shut our mouth. He have this ritual where every night he called his parents, and i mean every single night to bad mouth his entire family to his parents(my grandparents). Just imagine listening to your own dad insulting you and your mom every night and he doesnt like it if we are not near him when he make that call. He called it avoiding him. Of course we avoid him whenever he makes that call. Would you listen to it? He would first talk about the most innocuous stuff, like his pee habit, the consistency of his poo, his spending habit, what food he ate, what his day was like, politics, but then the insulting and berating stuff would start. This also extend to everyone he meet. Whenever his friend invite him to eat he would force me and my mom to go with him and what do you think he talks about with his friend? That is right, insulting me and my mom in front of his friend. First they would reminisce about the good old days and then the berating and insulting stuff would happened. I dont know why they are even friends with my dad. But i noticed that those who invite him to eat are always friends he made years and years ago when he and my mom were not even married. So i guess old friends. Sometimes i would be jealous of them. Watching their interaction with their own family, hugs, kisses, you would never see them insulting their own family. My dad doesnt drink often. Maybe 2 - 3 times a year when his friends invite him to eat but he turns even more hateful and angry when he does. And the weird thing is he would insist he is not drunk and dont want to be driven home. One time his friend insisted on driving him home after too many beer. He doesn't like it and started walking home. He walked for maybe 10 minutes before his friend gave up and gave him his keys back. We were with him at the restaurant. Can you imagine that? He is drunk and cant even walk straight but he insisted on driving. Our house was like 10 miles from that restaurant. He was swerving and speeding and me and my mom holds on to each others and each others seatbelts in the backseat hoping we didn't crash. Thank god when i was finally old enough to drive. Unfortunately, I would always dread driving with him because every time i drive he doesn't like me using my phone for GPS. he said he will give me direction. Do you know how he gives direction ? By pointing using his finger, not his arm, not his hand, just his finger and not even saying anything. Just imagine you driving and you have to constantly look to your right to see if he points at something or not. And i would always have to guess if he mean change to another lane or does he mean turn at this corner? He doesn't say anything. What do you think that feels like driving at night and him only giving direction by pointing and only using light from car entertainment system to see? One final note, what do you think his favorite insult is? Be grateful i allowed you to live here at my house. A house that he says belongs to him even though my mom paid half for.
