Dentist Woes

Going to the dentist makes me feel so ugly. Sorry I grew up poor and couldn’t get braces or my very minor overbite fixed. I’m not letting you remove most of my teeth and break my jaw so I can be pretty.

Last time the dentist told me my overbite would cause my teeth to slide out when I’m old and give me jaw pain. Now I’m so hyper-fixated on my overbite that my jaw hurts all the time. I must be tensing it.

Then they get high and mighty about how “it’s been too long since you had a cleaning.” Well yeah. I cry every time I come here. Why would I want to go?

Most of the time I go, they tell me I need a whitening, jaw correction, teeth replacement, gum restoration, expensive dental equipment (always a specific brand too), and braces. They list all that’s wrong and I have to interrupt with, “but are my teeth and gums looking healthy?” And they say, “yes, but…”

I don’t even know if their concerns are legit or they are just trying to make money by bullying me into things. They are so aggressive with demanding I make these appointments too. Once they even made several without my consent and I had to cancel them. They aren’t even consistent with their concerns. Sometimes I brush too hard. Sometimes I brush too softly. Sometimes I don’t have enough of an overbite.

I’m sure there are lots of good dentists, but I’m striking out over and over again. I had a good one long ago, but he retired.
