Crucial Decisions

You can it what you you like, a fork in the road, a crossroad, or a situation coming to a head. Whatever the chosen terminology; we all end up there. In an intensely difficult situation, fraught with peril or dire consequence. We don't want to be there, because it's scary. Because if something goes wrong it could mean the end of our life, or someone else's. It's like Kernel Nathan R. Jessup(J. Nicholson) says to Lt. Daniel Kaffee(T. Cruise) after Lt Kaffee asks him if he would have acted if he felt that Private Santiago was in danger, and Kernel Jessup says "yes, I would have acted". And then, Lt. Kaffee says " if he was in grave danger?" To which Kernel Jessup says," Is there any other kind?". Great movie (A Few Good Men)- great scene. And a great point that is made. There is only one kind of mortal danger we face in this world - and that is of the grave variety. And because of that there is only one kind of Gordian knot we have to unravel(and, or cut, if the solution requires us to). And that is being in those scary but necessary final rounds of that fight, giving our all to bob, and weave, to try to out fox our opponent "grave danger' until the final bell. Where we emerge victorious be cause we won, (or because we never threw in the towel. Crucial times are, as revolutionary war patriot Thomas Paine said, "the times that try men's(and, or women's) souls". And they always have been and always will be. But we have to fight for our life or the lives of others at the mercurial crossroads of life,(even if we think we'll lose). Because life is precious - and if it's not worth fighting for than nothing is.
