Canal Conundrum

Commercially the Panama Canal is supposed to save US money by shipping container cargo faster. And the Panamanians are probably smart enough not to kill the golden goose by charging the US Canal Transit Fees the same or more than it would cost to go the long way around bypassing the canal, so it stays the cheaper route. Militarily the Canal's usefulness to US National Security is a bit more nuanced in a world shit hit the fan situation. Most if not all US huge Aircraft Carriers leading an Aircraft Carrier Group can't fit through it & US military ships than can fit would be sitting ducks going though it with today's modern warfare. The Chinese are not the only problem, but all the nearby Russian allied countries along w/ their resident Wagner Group militia, like Venezuela.

Hoo Goo EEEEE! The establishment of unmarked aircraft carriers at each end and in the middle of the canal to force all ships to pay $$$ is brilliant and will fill the go fund me campaign to pay for the inauguration and invasions of europe and iceland and australia and poland.

So, if the US were to lose enough navy vessels protecting the little speck island Taiwan when China finally rolls out to expand their sphere of influence. And they did not have enough forces to help the no nuke Aussies defend against the Chinese headed there. The US would not rely on trying to get backup through the Panama Canal. The US would use their air superiority which extends into space. That's right, MTG is right about space lasers, only they aren't Jewish ones. Very bad results for the enemy when the US has new weaponry and needing a good reason to field test it. Just ask the Japanese about that.
