I never fucking felt bad for Molly Ringwald or Mr. "My dad was a football player, so I wrapped around tape someone's ass" They were both shitty, inconsiderate, spoiled fucking people. Even with Ringwald's parents using her as a pawn, she was still someone who got whatever she wanted.

I doubt this was intentional, but it's funny how the rich characters problems were so much lesser than the other characters. Lets see. You had the kid from an abusive home. The one who wanted to kill himself because his family didn't care about him, and they only cared about his grades. Then the other girl who also had an unloving family who didn't fucking care.

Then you have the rich people, whose biggest problems were what? Dad boasted about being a jock asshole, so to impress him you wrapped tape around someone's ass? And then, skipping school to go shopping.
