Awkward - Back to Friends

So I dated this German guy about a year back. For a while it became very awkward after we broke up. We were never physical. I was never physical 'physical' with anyone. It requires a lot of bravery to face someone, who has hurt you and pretend that everything is okay and cool. I had to like compartmentalize my brain and be like okay - just put him as someone I used to know. Nothing more.
My dad was so against it. He was fuming. My dad would have never excepted the guy either. My mom is more understanding. Anyway, it does not matter. It never worked out.
My dad will never accept any guy that is outside the community. If I marry, I will have to elope and later show the marriage certificate.
This is why people should not sleep around too much. You get emotionally attached and then it leads to traumatization when it is time to leave.
