Why do I need an ID card for everything now?

This isn't about the safety of the British people, it's about governmental control. Just saying that makes me feel like a tin foil hat wearing conspiracy nut but I feel that it's the truth.

I can't even watch YouTube videos anymore without being made to upload my ID. Thank god for VPNs.
