Roommate

Okay oh my god. First of all, I've lived in this apartment for nearly four months (moved in in May, it is now September). My roommate, we'll call him John, moved in in June, so all of May's bills were mine alone to cover. When he moved in, we agreed we'd split the bills evenly. Now, we're both college students, and went back to school at the end of August. I have been working full time as well as going to class now that school has started back up, and applied for an on-campus part-time job to make sure I can still pay my portion of the bills. John, on the other hand, went out of town in order to visit a friend of his back at the beginning of August, and has only paid his portion of September's rent since. The internet, water, and power have all been mine to pay, since he didn't work that week and "has no money" but can still go out to eat almost every day. When school started, he stopped working almost completely! School started last week, he only worked for one day last week. This week, again, he hasn't been to work yet. And he texts me while I'm in class complaining about the washing machine being broken (it's a top load) and saying that it fills up with water and washes the clothes, like that's not what top load washers do. When I ask clarifying questions he starts getting snappy with me! Like seriously dude, I didn't break it. Then he says I need to submit a maintenance request for the washer to get fixed. Okay, and when am I going to be home for them to stop by, considering I have class five days a week, and work at least five (including the weekend)?

On top of all that, he keeps complaining that I don't clean enough and the apartment is too dirty, yet all he does is sweep his room and do his laundry. He doesn't help with dishes or groceries or the common living areas, doesn't pay his bills and yet wants to complain and tell me that I'm not doing enough????? Bruh I'm genuinely almost at the point where I want to find a different roommate to live with me.
