Maybe the solution to be rid of the step child is for you to leave the situation?
Your frustration will only contribute to more intense problems in the future - i know this from experience.
FASD is a challenge to deal with, even for the most sane, stable, and sound people.
Do everyone including yourself a favor and take a vacation. You deserve it.

I have considered leaving and talking to a therapist about it. I have considered the issue of "maybe its not him i hate, but what he represents" and i definitely hate what he represents. I want my husbands attention to myself. The kid also shines light on my husbands terrible parenting. He is truly a bad parent and it makes me not want to have his kid. Also, autism is passed by the father, so he might give me a fucked up kid also. Step kid is a constant force holding him and myself back in life in general. Husband tried briefly to "make me his new mother" i shut that down immediately. I blatantly told husband, "im not his mom, i dont want to be his mom. I will not play that role or act like a mom to him. If i wanted that work id have a kid myself (not likely to happen by my choice). Stop trying to force this on me. It will only build resentment. If you dont like that then we will go our seperate ways" thats literally what i said word for word. Cant get any more clear. He chose to stay.

I have not always been this kind of bitter person, its been several years of little things building up to my hatred of the kid and disgust toward husband for his bad parenting.
My mother had no "motherly instinct" and neither do I. No way i can conjure it up for someone elses kid, especially one that isnt even likable..
