"question everything" was a mistake. questioning should be reserved for things you reasonably doubt. otherwise, questioning for its own sake leads nowhere.

you just end up denying obvious facts like earth's roundness, make everyday decisions feel like life or death, and lose your moral compass because you wonder if everything you're taught was wrong. questioning everything is portrayed as this edgy pose to stand out from the crowd but the fact is questioning everything is something everyone already believes in: your teachers when asking critical questions during complex subjects like human rights, tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists, colorful posters, midlife crises, fact-checkers.

it's nothing new, obscure, or forbidden. and saying you SHOULDN'T question everything (and keep in mind, I'm saying "everything," not "anything at all") gets you accused of cover-ups. not exactly what I'd expect from a society that purportedly suppresses free thought.

questioning everything will only lead to unnecessary paranoia. philosophy doesn't answer questions, it asks them. it should be treated as a thought experiment. evidence is what should determine what's true or not. common sense is what allowed you to survive every day up to this point.
