Just a rant about a dumb video game

Snezhnaya is literally the Russia of Teyvat. It's COLD. FREEZING. YOU WILL DIE IF YOU ARE UNDERDRESSED. At least that's the lore the game has given us all these years, even up until recently. But when you look at the (2) male characters versus the (what, like, 7?) female characters, they don't look like they're all coming from the same place. The men match their setting. The women are designed to slip hundreds out of real life perverts' bank accounts. That's it. And these pervs will die on the hill saying that you're prudent if you think their beloved 2D gooner-bait waifus are too revealing/exposed, underdressed, accentuated in certain areas, unrealistic, and so on.

I don't care that it's a fantasy world. It has never been THIS bad. Natlan was supposed to be the worst of it. I thought it would go back to normal (and yes, Genshin was relatively normal once) with Snezhnaya. But instead, it's far WORSE because now there's no excuse. "Natlan has a hot climate, so it makes sense they're wearing less clothing!" Sure, I could agree with that, but the only 3 men in Natlan are completely covered head to toe. And you never had anything to validate your argument there. So no, it's not about the climate, it's about your money. You can't use the same excuse for Snezhnaya. Now all they can say is "It's a fantasy game!", well kind perv, go ahead and reread the beginning here, because I know you already forgot I said it. They're contradicting their own lore. That's something to complain about, especially if they're doing it just so they can tighten the chokehold they have on your wallet.

I like browsing anime figures online, and often see adult figures. Lauma looks just like them. No Genshin character has EVER looked just like them. Not even in Natlan. Not even Ei looks that bad, and I've never liked her revealing design. And cue more excuses from all the desensitized pervs.

Funny thing is, it's been very clear that characters don't need to be this exposed for Hoyo to make a lot of money. Furina, and Fontaine in general, are an incredible example of that. Even Sumeru, while characters were more revealing, they were designed in tasteful and presentable ways that didn't strike as sexualized. Yes, there's a way to do that! Natlan went full sexualization, and it looks like Snezhnaya is following suit. And the fully conservative male designs are as well (but really, they should ALL be conservative and in layered clothing in Snezhnaya).

Maybe I wouldn't be so bothered by it if the men were more revealing as well, and if we had more male five-star characters released like we used to. After Wriothesley's release, we had 1 male five-star to 19 females released. What the hell, Hoyo? We've always had at least 3 male to maybe 4-7 female. So you get us hooked for 3 years and then pull the rug. You used to make so much (MORE) money doing what you did before, and the game was SO GOOD. Now I'm frankly embarrassed that these are the characters representing a game a claim to love and play consistently.

I'm super tired of it. I want to quit, but the thing is, I DO love the game. Despite all this bull, I love it. I put up with it because I'm holding on to hope that something will make it all worth it.

At the same time, some of my frustrations have come about from the absent voice actors. I haven't kept up with the Archon Quests lately because of this, and I think being unable to indulge and enjoy the storyline has also been a huge bummer. But that's something that has a guaranteed fix soon, and I'm not worried about it anymore. I just hope and pray that the developers have a change of heart and stop catering solely to one side of their loyal audience as they have done so much of in the last year.
