Oh, I understand completely! I hate houseguests (mostly any kind of guests, really) so much too! They make me uncomfortable, like they're violating my private space and they prevent me from doing things I really want to do instead of forced talk and fake smiles. Especially, like you say, if they have kids because most kids these days are total brats allowed to do whatever they want and they treat other people's home/stuff as if it was theirs and you can't say anything or else you're the villain. I managed to distance myself from relatives so that it's just birthday greetings on Facebook and my friends are all online friends to begin with. This gives me control over my home and time, which I get to spend with close family, my husband and our pets.
