I helped both our JV and Varsity team win first place tournament last week hey we had a draft for a 3V3 tournament. Four teams all picked by freshman (which I am). It wasn’t a Captain choosing. For as long as I’m aware of for this tournament there has always been the two goalies who wear their gear for the tournament and the other two are stand ins who borrowed gear. however this year they decided to use two goalies who are eighth graders instead. Both girls are very very nice who I have been friends with however my only problem being that I have a history with one of them having shared a team with her last year which resulted in very uneven playing time almost making me want to quit the sport (ice hockey) due to my old coaches blatant favoritism to her. Which has also happened even earlier the first time we shared a team. Out of the two, one of them wasn’t even present for the draft. Captains were picking teams and there was a round where three teams all picked their goalies out. I was the only goalie not chosen in that round. Something that brought up not very nice memories of last year’s problems with my coach and the other goalie. It took until the last round of the draft for our head coach who was the one changing names in this spreadsheet to realize that one team had two goalies and one with none. Which he said I was defaulted to. Every other goalie INCLUDING THE GOALIE COACH had been picked except for me, who had to be defaulted to a team. When I looked at the team I was defaulted to, they wouldn’t look me in the eye. The one girl who did, did get a small look of disappointment from me, no gestures or anything rude. Just a look saying how disappointed I felt in my team for no one to choose me. Mind you I’m not by any means a terrible goaltender. I’ve played hockey for ten years and 8 of those have been in goalie training. And in our tournament I secured a shutout for the team, which the other goalie on the team had lost when she played the day after me, the day where I played for our varsity team which resulted in a 12-2 victory. If that says anything about my work ethic and skill level. Idk if I’m being dramatic or not, but I just feel snubbed by my team over and over again, constantly overlooked.
Idk what to do except for just playing as well as I possibly can? Ideas are welcome.)))
