high rises are not the solution to the housing cri
Hot take but hear me out. First, who on earth feels comfortable taking a horribly long elevator ride just to be trapped in a box in the sky? Second, after you build past a certain height, it actually costs more per housing unit to build the structure due to elevator shafts, mechanical ducts, and structural beams/columns to supply all the units and these costs are passed down to the customer. No wonder cities like New York are building lots of homes but they're catered to the 1% who can afford a second or third home rather than the people living on the streets who actually NEED a home.

Gee didn't we try high rises back in the 1940s and 1950s? And gave them names such as "Robert Taylor" and "Cabrini Green"? I wonder how those turned out? :-/
