Disrespectful wedding

When I was young, my family used to struggle a lot with money. We would always have to eat potatoes every single day because we wouldn’t have enough food. My dad would work hours and hours just to save some money to buy us fits and treat us like normal children. Thankfully as I grew older, I was able to land a good job to be able to support them and spoil them but something at my cousins wedding made my blood absolutely boil. This isn’t really a tradition but more of a trend on TikTok where people will throw money during Pakistani weddings as a way to display wealth and to show off. When I was struggling I would tell my cousin all that we struggled and she would normally comfort me as well. She was from a very wealthy family so she dint really understand but throwing money right in-front of my parents faces is downright disrespectful and tone deaf. The money that my parents have worked hours for is just being thrown like it didn’t matter at all. I didn’t say anything but I was so frustrated that I didn’t talk to my cousin after that. This wasn’t only an insult to my family but this was an insult to all those people living in poverty right now. Weddings are supposed to be a celebration bringing others joy instead of bringing shame and anger. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated at this event and I don’t talk to my cousin anymore.
