daycare

i started working at a daycare. i am taking online classes to get my degree in early childhood education. i have learned a lot already but its only my third week so i am a newborn in the child care world. it seems simple enough to where it’s obvious cheerfulness, love, empathy, respect are a given right? wrong apparently. the teachers i work for are like disney villains. they yank the one year old babies, yell at them in their face like scared straight, they aren’t even perceptive enough to understand that behavioral issues obviously stem from something deeper and a disgusted scolding and anger will not help the situation. like i feel from being a fearful kid the world actually can be sunshine and rainbows when you have a healthy self concept and are encouraged to do what you individually are passionate about. but the teacher i work for is constantly complaining she’s ready for the weekend and is so anxious and stressed and probably burnt out. i feel all babies deserve respect and i love slowing down and allowing for their curiosity and wonder and to ask them questions. i didn’t feel so good today. some days i feel more comfortable than others but a lot of things happened today that left me shocked that daycare isn’t just a fun happy place and were so lucky we get to play with these angels while their mommies and daddies are missing these beautiful moments of their lives. every moment counts. the kids that bully don’t need to be labeled with such harshness. life is malleable, it can change in an instant. these people don’t see the potential and possibilities these little humans have and think everything they perceive as wrong is something the baby “knows better” about. no, they’ve been around the sun 1 (one!) time. we are teaching them what life is? you treat them harshly and push them because they’re smaller than you and you don’t respect them and are surprised they do it to other babies? cmon dude. they got onto me for talking to another coworker which i found to be the coolest person there and then proceeded to have a garbage conversation judging the clothing of a sweet boys mom. idk dude. someone tell me im not crazy
