Brother Dearest

Honestly idk why I try to be so nice to my older brother when he’s so mean to me. Telling me about how if I fail anything, he’ll haunt me about it for the rest of my life. Because it’ll toughen me up. I tell him it actually makes me sensitive to rejection and harder on myself. He smiles. That prick. I go further, telling him he makes me insecure. He shrugs. God, does he have even care about me? He should be PROTECTING me as my older brother. What the hell is this? All my life I’ve thought that if I just treat him nicely enough, he’ll reciprocate. If I’m honest enough, he’ll care about my feelings. At this rate I’d do anything to get a rise out of him, a speck of true worry and kindness. I shouldn’t care so much, but I do, because I love him and I was raised to be very close to him. I just wish he’d understand…
