boyfriend hung out with former love interest

i just wanna know if i’m being an asshole for being uncomfortable with my current boyfriend hanging out with his former love interest. they’ve since become friends and he tells me that that’s just what they are nothing more but he didn’t clarify that she was a love interest before, verbatim he was ‘deeply infatuated’ with her previously and just recently started hanging out again and i just feel so small and yeah insecure ill admit but am i in the wrong for feeling a little betrayed and hurt for them hanging out. context i don’t mind him being friends with someone he has been in a relationship with because i don’t want to control his friends or who he hangs out with, but telling me after what was practically a date really hurt me.
