Both sides of your mouth

I'm so tired of listening to people talk out of both sides of their mouths about EVERYTHING. There's no internal consistency. I'm all for people changing their minds after consideration of a topic - that's completely respectable, and very admirable if they acknowledge the shift consciously - but that's not what I'm talking about. When the self same person gives you diametrically opposed and fundamentally incompatible information or opinions about the same topic over the course of hours or minutes, and they don't see the problem, they are either mentally incompetent or lying. You can't even ask which one you're dealing with because stupid people don't know they're stupid, crazy people don't know they're crazy, and liars will lie about lying.

It's like living in a hall full of funhouse mirrors, all reflecting each other until you're so dizzy and disoriented you stop trying to get anywhere. There's not a semi-realistic representation of anything or anyone in sight. For the sake of your sanity you have to imagine that there is something in sight that isn't totally distorted - something around you is the real thing getting distorted by the rest, and if nothing else, maybe one of these reflections is somewhere near the truth. But damned if you can locate it. You're exhausted and tired of knocking into shit, so you're just going to sit on the floor in one nice, unmoving spot. Even there you're getting a little dizzy because the images around you make no sense.

All because people can't be bothered to try to get anything straight. Never mind getting objective facts right, their own opinions seem to change in accordance with whatever is most convenient in the moment. You don't know who they are or what the fuck you're dealing with.
