As an architecture student, I've grown distrustful to how the profession is taught in schools and maybe even exercised in real life. So many architecture firms and classes emphasize cool forms and buildings that look nice when really you don't get a sense of place at all if everywhere you go is just concrete, glass, and steel. I wish buildings were designed with more intention and tact to give the end user a sense of peace and scale. No, high rises won't do shit to the housing crisis because at a certain point you have to pay extra for mechanical ducts, lifts, water pumps, and stronger structural materials, and those costs get passed on to the consumer. No wonder cities like New York are building homes but they're only catered to the wealthy and not the large homeless population who ACTUALLY needs a home, and no wonder Florida builds the most homes of any state in the country behind Texas but these homes are only catered to the middle-upper class. Just a cool building no longer convinces me. Only with a place that is designed with the person in mind will suffice.
All capitol cities are scheduled for capture renovation by the grand inquisition...the architecture of the future will embrace the grate king's grandeur and extol his golden greatness...there shall be statues in gold, temples in gold, golden parade grounds, golden coliseums for the gladiatorial games and the executions...all gold will glow forever, as will the KiNG. anonymous 3 hours ago
