Anyone Recognize This Cartoon?

Do you guys remember those cartoons from 1980s that ended up getting cancelled and not running for very long. Those short series that you faintly remember in the back of your mind. Be it Ulysses 31, Fantastic Journey, The Biskitts, Inhumanoids, Kidd Video, Dinosaucers or that weird series about a teen that turns into a car when he gets hot. A good portion of you might vividly recognize these titles.
The reason I am bringing up this topic is because I remember watching a show around that time. I have been looking all over the place for it, but I can’t seem to find it. This has been frustrating me so I decided to rant a little about it.
I doubt many of you will even bother reading this, but I still wish to share it. Who knows, maybe someone reads this and recognizes what I am talking about.
I remember very little of the actual episodes that I watched. I only watched 3 in total, but I remember having nightmares about them. I can’t seem to recal what actually happened in these episodes.
From what I managed to gather from the little information that was shown, it as about a girl and a boy who would walk out into these magical woods and have adventures with magical fantasy friends. I remember a tiny dwarf wizard (maybe a gnome), a dragon hatchling and an elf girl who looked about the same age as the kids. Don’t remember much about the villain. I know that the right hand man of the big bad was a skeleton soldier who spoke like a low budget Skeletor. I do remember being creeped out by the main villain, even though I remember nothing about him.
I also remember that the show was really low-budget. The animation was stiff and the audio was crunchy. It felt like watching an old VHS tape that has been used to the point of degradation, but that was just the actual quality of the show. The colors were muted and the enviroment was always very dark.
I think the titel of the series was something like Morglers Explorers or The Fantastic Morgols.
The thing that I remember was how much this series bothered me, everytime that it would appear on screen. That is why I only saw 3 episodes. I remember hear sounds mixed in with the audio like a metal grinder or a saw buzzing in the background. The voice actors were very stiff and emotionless in their line delivery. In fact, I think the same voice actor would voice multiple characters. Maybe there were only 4 or maybe 5 different voice actors in the series. There was also something very uncanny and strange appearance on the characters. Their eyes were a bit to distant, their faces would show little emotions and parts of their body were proportionally bigger then they should be. Like the neck being a bit too long or their joints looking to uneven. I remember random flashes of images from the show, but don’t remember the context around them. Like a scene where the wizard is slowly sinking into mud and begging for help whilst the dragon hatchling just sits there and smiles, the elf pushing an animated living armour off of a cliff and the shot just lingering on the edge after they fell, or the kids crying and hugging eachother whilst a deep laugh is heard.
I would have nightmares where I heard the exact same laugh coming from my closet or under my bed. I would also have nightmares of being lost in those woods that the series takes place in. Me running from something in the dark. Just like the series, I remember very little about these dreams. But for a series to scare me so bad, I am curious as to what I ended up seeing on the screen. Something that scared me so bad that I supressed it.
I don’t remember what Channel it was on, but I do know that it was around the 1980s. The show was in english, but there was a dialect that the actors had that I didn’t recognize.
