Akiyama Mizuki (Project Sekai)

I'm quite the loving person. Accepting of all kinds of people and lifestyles, even if my beliefs don't align. You do you, it's none of my business.

I don't believe in transgender. Or Non-binary. But if you're transgender, then go for it. I won't get involved.

Still, I have quite the negative connotation around it. And fictional transgender characters are treacherous.

Akiyama Mizuki is disgusting. I hate that thing with every fiber of my being. ONLY because it's a fictional character. Nobody REALLY had to create a full blown tranny for that game. Shocking it came out of Japan too. SEGA, no less. You know, the folks that made Sonic the Hedgehog? They also made Akiyama Mizuki. Who has a question mark under "gender" on its profile. What the fuck?

I won't even say its name. I call it "Okama". A Japanese term referring to a transvestite or male crossdresser. Okama makes my skin crawl. In a game about music and singing, I can't even stand listening to its voice. It's the most unrealistic depiction of what a transgender person would look or sound like in high school (Okama is physically male, but has a female voice actress and is depicted with the female game models).

My anxiety skyrocketed in that moment that I found out it was a tranny. Because aside from reading its storyline, there is no indication of this except for the use of "Boku" in its speech. I love this game. I love each and every character from this game. And it could've been perfect. Okama could've been really cool.

I mean, what about a gay guy? Okama is short for a guy, so he could've been bullied for being small and an easy target. Then he could meet some good people who uplift him, and he gradually becomes more comfortable in his own skin. But the point is that his secret would be that he's gay, rather than a tranny. Just daydreaming here. Gay male Mizuki sounds fucking awesome.

What I don't understand is why EVERYBODY SEEMS TO BE FUCKING OKAY WITH IT. I enjoy this game every day, and I've never seen another player who has shown any particular distaste in Okama (Japanese server, so the majority of players I see are Japanese). I can never find other people online who share my sentiment because they don't get a fucking voice. It's deemed "transphobic and bad" and can't be tolerated on any forum. Sure, I suppose that's valid. But I KNOW I'm not alone. And I just want to find my friends who hate this thing too.
