"We don't live in Detroit!"

"We don't live in Detroit!"

I, 17F just had an argument with my 72yo grandmother. Getting ready to go out to the store, putting on my rings (Abt 10, I like them, I'm very maximalist), she pulls me aside from the rest of the family and tells me I shouldn't wear them to go out because quote "some poor person not in their right mind will take you down for those rings". Context: We live in USA, but not Detroit or Camden or Chicago. So I say to her "We don't live in Kensington or Detroit. No one is going to "take me down" in broad day light on a busy street near a store that has multiple security guards outside, just to take my rings." So then she says that it doesn't matter and the world is a terrible place and that's when I walked away because I'm not listening to her awful bs and she wonders why I stay in my room all the time... because ANY conversation I have with her turns into an argument VIA HER COMMENTS.

You should listen to Grandma. There are plenty of incidents in so called "nice areas" where people have them robbed of their belongings, some even killed, because the thieves know the people in these areas are like you and think they live in some kind of protected from violent crime bubble area and will wear nice for stealing items out on the street. Thieves are everywhere just less of them in less populated areas. Keep not listening to Grandma and your odds of meeting one will go up.

Screeming "me loves TRUMP" while slithering along in your street may not make a difference to the robbers as much as grabbing them by the nuts and twisting while singing "dingle schmells" , unless they are armed...as we all shood be

If you're in a poverty stricken area your Grandma is right about not flashing around a bunch of rings. I'd rather look poor or a enrage if I lived in an area polluted with poverty and crime.
