Tired of some friends

Do you ever have those kind of friends where it's just absolutely exhausting to be around them? It's not like its always like this, because sometimes we can have good conversations and have a lot of fun but most of the time they're just so miserable. And in all fairness, they have every right to be miserable because not a lot of good things happen in their life and they're always going through something, but good God, I just want one conversation with them without turning it into a therapy session or carrying all of my conversations with them because they're just such a dry responder. I have to check in on them constantly because if I don't, for some reason they'll think I hate them or don't give a shit, and honestly, it's hurtful and offensive that despite me trying to support them through their issues that it only takes me not responding within five minutes for them to think I hate their guts, while at the same time they keep telling me how I'm the only good thing in their life and whatever. Ihonestly can't hold a conversation with them because it's so tiring, and I feel really bad because I do care about them, but trying to act as their one and only respite from all the shit they're going through is so exhausting. It's not like I'm their only friend either, and it pisses me off when they dismiss some of our mutual friends in favour for me as well. I really shouldn't be spending hours of my time reassuring I like you at the cost of my other relationships.
