Disclaimer: I know that people will have their opinions on my post, and I know that people will see this in a different light than I am at fault. I respect your opinion, you are entitled to your own opinion, just please do not be rude about it and bash me for it. A nice explanation of why I'm in the wrong would be nice. I'm just here to vent, that's it, so...
I was on Mercari buying a toy for my sister, and I send an offer to this buyer. While I'm waiting. for them to respond, I find a better deal of the same toy, different design. I ask for them to cancel because I can't cancel on my end as a buyer (I wish I could but I can't). I know that sending an offer right away is a poor move but this toy is a very popular product, and they already have a pretty good deal, they just seemed very picky in their description. Anyway, I ask politely for them to cancel because I found a better deal, that's it. They start to flip, saying they've never had a buyer cancel on their offers no less than "two minutes" and ask me to repeat myself??? This time, I'm getting a little bit heated. I tell them I understand my mistake and what my reasons are. I also apologized to them twice for the inconvenience. They get even rowdier with me saying that they've already packaged up the product in less than a few seconds, which is not possible unless they've printed out the label and packaged it up super duper poorly, which is not acceptable. They also lie to me saying they've already shipped it when they didn't even accept/decline my offer and/or cancel my whole order. They did nothing with the product they were going to sell and continued to lie to me. They've told me "Your order has been canceled but you're being so rude and so disrespectful. My time is super duper valuable so don't be rude. You are blocked. Have a nice day". They did not block me at all, they did not ship the item, they did not do anything with the offer. All they've done was sit there and try to fight with me on this. I understand that jumping to offer sellers is a poor move and I've learned from that, but flipping tables and trying to use the block button as a toy is really unprofessional. I only know this because I went on their account, looked at their description that's read "I will block you if you don't give me a review in one day, I will block you if you are being rude, I will block you if, etc." It's not funny and it's so annoying. Many people's rated them low stars because of how aggressive they would speak to potential buyers.
I later post this on the Mercari community on Reddit (this was my first and only post in that community. I left afterward, people were being so rude) also asking if the seller scammed me somehow. This was because the message said at the top of the chat said "Transaction completed. Inactive chats will be deleted after two weeks" when I never purchased the item, nor did the seller does anything with the offer. Someone's already telling me not a few minutes after I posted this to calm down because they couldn't have possibly scammed me if the seller didn't act on the order. I don't appreciate people yelling "Omg calm down lol???" if possible scamming is involved. No one likes being scammed and having their money taken away, regardless of how much there is. Other people told me "Ew I would've blocked you too, you moron. You're the one that's being entitled. you're the one that's swearing and calling names. You should be the one to "have a ding" on your account, not them (not sure what that means)". Yes, I did swear because I was obviously upset and I would never be rude to anybody, especially over the internet, unless they are being rude to me first. I was not having it with this seller and yes, I did call them arrogant, because that's what they are. I understand that time is money, but if you're gonna cry about how YOUR time is super duper valuable and everything, please. I understand that the seller is a seller and, of course, they would be busy with things like this, but if you're gonna do this to every buyer who has to cancel for whatever reason, you're not cut out to be one. It's like buying a car at a dealership. The first dealership would have this much money for a car and the second dealership would have a better and cheaper deal. Everyone loves better deals, so there's nothing to be kicking and screaming about.
