K-pop stars

I do not understand why girls (my nieces) go crazy after K-pop male stars. They are very tall like me. Most k-pop stars are shorter than us. I would naturally expect them chase after a guy who is 6 feet tall. They do not even understand Korean. Korea is so far away at the other end of the world. Why is K-pop such a craze? Even my dad associates Korea with K-pop.
