I signed up for my BCBS health insurance on my state's exchange 1st week in December to get coverage for 2025. Went to pay my 1st premium payment as directed through the company's auto pay system and that was a no go. So I wait a week or so to see if they are going to send out an invoice for pay instead, and eventually got the welcome packet with the ID card and such, but no bill. So I have a ID card that's not worth shit if I have not paid my 1st premium, and call BCBS billing directly to see if I can pay this money owed. The CSR says no because they are behind with creating invoices "due to high demand" and I can't pay through any means until they have done up the invoices which won't be done until maybe the 1st week in January. Okay, now I'm worried because the bill needs to be paid by the 1st to be insured, and I tell the CSR this. The CSR says don't worry the 1st week of January is still in the "grace period" so I'm covered because I have the same plan as 2024 therefore any claims made during this period will be honored. Like I am supposed to believe this BS. I get hit with some major catastrophic medical issue during this "grace period" those heartless greedy bastards will use the non payment to quickly drop my ass into the 5th circle of Hell that is "Deny, Delay, Defend" to not cover treatment costs.

So-called health care insurers are parasitical thieves. Kill (another) CEO for Jesus. It's a noble act. anonymous 11 hours ago
It will be fine, calm down. I'm pretty sure you won't be covered until first pay period in 2025. Just keep logging into the auto pay section daily and try to pay. If you got a letter that means they know you want to be insured.

The person above, this is why Luigi is being adored like he is another football (American) squad of saints for just about any and everything for the Catholic church. This poster I can feel is obviously shaky and worried about keeping said health insurance when it could pull a United Healthcare and say god forbid this person got something common sensibly should be covered and then they'll do the Deny, Defend, Delay. So this person is as fucked as if they don't have health care. While I do like you already because you're trying to be an assuring angel, this I just typed also has to be considered where they play games with our lives like we would insects and to me, would even get a perverse joy out of cancelling this poor stressed person's coverage just to see them suffer more as if these people were devils from Hell in human form. Just wanted to give some perspective. anonymous 9 hours ago
^well, you can choose to be worried, upset and scared about it or you can roll with the processes. Things aren't always the way we want them to be and they always seem to work out. Using the Luigi example is extreme and your hypothesis of OP developing some kind of health disqualifier in the next 14 days is not valid and just a "reason" to worry. But hey, go be a basket case over something you have NO CONTROL OVER. Who I am to sweat anyone's neuroticism's. anonymous 6 hours ago
The people are tired of being steam rolled by the health insurance companies processes. If they would stop putting all the profits in shareholder pockets and pay for "clerical" to handle Open Enrollment efficiently, then OP would have nothing to worry about. Health insurance company Anthem BCBS wanted to put a time limit on the anesthesia they will cover for a procedure, but backed off because people decided they were not going to roll with it after Luigi. Nothing can be put past what an insurance company will do to save money by screwing people out of their benefits. Free Luigi!!!! anonymous 4 hours ago
OP probably has another pay period before the payroll year ends and the insurance company can't legally take the money yet. I'm thinking it will be fine in another week or so. Not sure why everyone should be all panty wadded over it. It's just normal stuff. anonymous 1 hour ago
