The LA fires are going to speed up gentrification of those older neighborhoods of 50-60+yrs populated by average folks nestled between the more tony ones. Those folks are not going to be able to afford to rebuild. A lot don't have insurance or are underinsured. "Poorer rich" priced out of other locations by the "mega rich" will be the ones building back there. And with the relaxation of building codes, the people burned out in these older neighborhoods will be hard pressed to find a contractor even willing to work with them. They'll have to wait for some charity organization that works disasters to show up, and that may take a while with all the ongoing disasters they are already working from 2024. Meanwhile the rich folks have the money to spend, the licensed contractors will be all lined up to give them the 1st class treatment their money buys, which may include 24/7 home site construction because there are no neighbors left to disturb.

I was wondering when someone was gonna make that point. This opened up an excellent opportunity for what you said and also keeping the non celebrities and poor people away from them so they can congregate and pretty much have their own city, protected by armed security, almost impersonating police officers. Supposedly, the one who kicked this all off was one the people got together to stop him was an illegal Latino immigrant running around with a FLAMETHROWER!!! I don't even know how one would get that, but there you go. If true that he's the cause, he should get the death penalty because he is indirectly responsible for the deaths going on there now. Or at bare minimum, life without parole. He deserves not to live, much less have no freedom for the rest of his life. anonymous 14 hours ago
WTF is up with the pyromaniac south of the border illegals. The illegal from Guatemala setting the woman on fire in the NYC subway, and now this illegal lighting up a fire in LA. Mass Deportation can not come soon enough. Only properly vetted people should be let in, and looks like LA is going to need a lot of guest workers vetted for construction. anonymous 14 hours ago
"he should get the death penalty because he is indirectly responsible for the deaths going on there now"
That makes no fucking sense dumb ass. The primary cause of death is the wild fire. The secondary cause of death is self (suicide), choosing to be refusing to evacuate despite the warnings. The third cause of death is the reason they refused to evacuate, either medical conditions, religious persecution, or their pets. At a maximum he is the fourth cause of death, and if since the fire is extinguished, the people have killed themselves, and their reasons to not evacuate have died with them, we have already punished the cause of death three times. I agree that he deserves to be punished for arsoning some old christmas trees in mid January. Wait, no I don't. That's a completely normal thing to be doing in mid January you retarded ass NIMBY. Sorry not sorry that poor people can't afford to compost their christmas trees into a re-usable starbucks cup. He is an illegal immigrant and it's enough to deport him. anonymous 13 hours ago
"and now this illegal lighting up a fire in LA"
Because it's January 11th and like seven-hundred poor people are burning their dead christmas trees and cleaning up decorations after christmas. Journalists and concerned NIMBYs just want to scape goat somebody convenient. Nobody is blaming the six million recyKle-&Kompost-Karens who accelerated the fire by having yards full of compositable waste rotting the planet, but they should absolutely be billed for the damages they contributed. anonymous 13 hours ago
Wow, man. Way to go hard for a statement. By the way, quick Google search shows that it is NOT contained. AT ALL. NOT even in the SLIGHTEST!! So you failed that point to really stick it to the NIMBYs because, you know, mental illness and all that. And do you have that to say to the people who fucking TACKLED the guy because HE WAS WALKING AROUND WITH A FLAMETHROWER??!!! Apparently they didn't want someone "Burning up Christmas trees" as you said. So hate on them too. The other points were valid though. I didn't think through about those who didn't evacuate. I would still consider them indirectly murdered just looking at the crime committed more so than the reason behind someone not leaving their place, as if it's their only place or it has extreme sentimental value. Well, you do you man in your crusade against NIMBYs. Maybe this year can be your year for that, I dunno. All I know is that you just spit out some statements that were lies by just cursory searching and then hyper ranting about NIMBYs like they stole something irreplaceable from you, so hopefully you're getting the help you need. anonymous 12 hours ago
If things DIDN'T go as the OP suggests, I would be extremely surprised. Golden opportunity of gentrification right there! anonymous 12 hours ago
"Burning up Christmas trees".
Right, that is VERY believable, what the guy with the torch claimed he was doing. anonymous 12 hours ago
I believe him. I didn't see the video until a few minutes ago, but we can see him running around the hills on a bicycle with a small propane torch that could be for anything, maybe even a BBQ. Not a "FLAME THROWER" Suddenly the fat white neighborhood watch surrounds and practically lynches the guy. He doesn't have a look of anger as if he was being prevented from doing something nasty, he has a look of panic and then sadness like a man being lynched by NIMBYs. Which is what you're supporting. anonymous 11 hours ago
You can purchase a small propane torch like he had for $25 at home depot. It's not unusual for a homeless man to have a source of fire, but because he had it while passing through NIMBY territory, that is a great reason to execute penile torture on the guy if you're a racist NIMBY. anonymous 11 hours ago
Oh sweet heavens to betsy the fire is not contained?! Somebody better send in the NIMBY patrol squad to confiscate all cigarette lighters and grill starters from anybody making less than 120k in LA anonymous 11 hours ago
" He doesn't have a look of anger as if he was being prevented from doing something nasty"
Not all people like this are going to start throwing around hands and screaming "what's up, mother fucker!" when confronted. The guy could be mentally ill, maybe not even completely in this world and thinks he's on some mission from God or something.
I'm not going to judge, jury, execute him because I wasn't there, but going around on a bike with a blowtorch while fires are raging in nearby seems very suspicious to me. anonymous 11 hours ago
^ Brother you wouldn't believe the recklessness, some people are even operating ovens and drinking alcoholic beverages while fires go on nearby. anonymous 11 hours ago
The guy illegally entered the US and is a criminal, so he needed to be arrested anyway for that, so good on that neighborhood watch for getting the ball rolling on getting rid of all unvetted illegals and stopping an arsonist. Send his ass back to his legal home and he can light up the rich celebrity homes in Cabo, Mexico. anonymous 11 hours ago
"recklessness"
Even if he's not found guilty of arson, I expect him to be facing a reckless endangerment charge given the tinderbox condition of the area that led to the fires 8n the first place. anonymous 11 hours ago

"stopping an arsonist"
That's not likely. It's more likely that he was disposing of christmas trees since it's January 11th after all. If he's sent back to Mexico he will hopefully get to burn up Christmas trees a little later (since their season extends to January 6th) with a better propane torch made outside of China unlike you can get in this country. But I imagine he won't be back in Mexico very soon, but tying up the immigration services while he waits for maybe deportation and maybe the confused, racist testimony of the fat white NIMBYs to absolve him of any wrongdoing in the case of arson, which would not in fact deport or execute him but put him in an American institution where he will eat NIMBY tax dollars for even longer. anonymous 10 hours ago
The reason I actually kinda dig Trump's flow on this is that he supports the rising Hispanic Middle Class that will make this NIMBY attitude a thing of the past. He says, if you want to get ahead by offering to burn your neighbor's outdated Christmas trees for money, he's going to be all for that kind of self starting ingenuity. And if you want to slow things down by being a fat white cow who gets in everyone's business, well that's fine too as long as the immigration system is being run as smoothly as possible and you don't take five months so you can compost some leaves into a red paper straw or whatever. There won't be any question of "was there an arson happening" because he's going to look and say, we don't want em in this country eating your tax dollars. You can sip your lattes as much as you like, in fact we WILL pay you so you can sip some more cappuccinos. But the hispanics aren't wasting their time being racist against each other or arguing about fictosexuals, they are building themselves up, they are doing what they want, when they want, and that's what's so beautiful about this country, not NIMBYs who are making your house prices even more unstable than China is, and who are hoarding your wealth and will hoard when the boomers pass too, like some old bones witch pulling some tricks from the cloakroom. Like Judge Judy says "ah ah ah I don't care about your story wasting my time; let's just hear the FACTS." anonymous 10 hours ago
