Even volunteering is competitive

I feel better now. I signed up for volunteering and I will go through a rigorous interview and selection process. There are so many volunteering opportunities out there. I just picked something that was meaningful to me. I am not going to say what place I picked because I do not want any creepy showing up there. It has happened in the past. But it is crazy that I have to go through all kind of background checks just for volunteering!? and there are too many applicants!? Rat race for volunteering in the community! Everything has become a competition these days. I am offering my precious time for free, isn't that enough. In fact, I paying bus fare to go to volunteer. If they reject me, then I would rather study something related to my field or read some fiction for my mental wellness.
