Hi there, F-18 here and I genuinely need help. I think my mom did debit card fraud on me. She took my card as a form of punishment, Because my room was apparently messy. About 5 days after that I made plans to get my eyebrow pierced And my sister volunteered to take me as a thank you For watching her kids overnight. She even offered me $25 but I declined because I just wanted to get the piercing done and out of the way. So I asked her if she can take me to get my eyebrow pierced. A day later I was taking the tree down And my mom asked me when am I getting my piercing, And I told her tomorrow. And she said when were you going to tell me, And I told her eventually. I didn't really tell her because I just felt like 18-Year-Olds should be able to make decisions on their own without getting permission and judgment from their mother. So then she asked me 'How much is it' and I told her 80 to $89. And she responds with 'I don't know if you have enough, But you're not getting your card back until I see some improvement' .Skip to yesterday She gave me my card back because my friend's birthday was yesterday and I was going to take her out to dinner But that didn't happen because she ended up leaving school early. when she gave it to me, she tells me that There's 40 on it ,But the thing is I had over at least 80 to $89 on my cash app card. Mind you When you turn 18 cash app takes the owner of your card off so now it's only owned by you. I just took the card and said thank you . I didn't want to argue with her because I had to leave for school in a matter of minutes and did not feel like missing my bus, And I planned on asking her about it later on. So later that day I asked her blatantly if she used my card and the first thing she said was 'when did I use it' I told her I didn't know and I just noticed because she told me that there was 40 on my card but I remember that there was 89 On my card And I asked her if she took it and she said that she took it off Which makes no sense because cash app took her off of my account when I turned 18, So she had no way of taking the money off. You can't even take money off of an account That you once owned. You could only send money but you couldn't take it out of that account So I knew right then and there she probably did spend it on something. I feel as if I report her she would get mad and start accusing me of stuff because that's what she always does. She's the kind of person to start an argument with you trying to get her point across knowing that you're right. Then when you still not buy it She starts saying the most absurd rude shit. Like this one time she was asking me about what my plans for the future was and I was telling her that I was applying to colleges and she didn't believe me so she told me to name some and I named like five at the top of my head . she was standing in front of me and I was sitting We made Intense eye contact for about a good 10 seconds then she says 'Why are you eyeing me down like you're not scared of me' All I'm doing is just making eye contact, But it's rude if I didn't??That makes no sense should I report her for debit card fraud or not?

Idk about specifics and sometimes things will differ depending on the state you live in so you might have to Google if your state or even city has very specific laws about these things, BUT I do know that if you really wanted, you can always file an online police report.
You don’t have to do anything special, but depending on your local police department it can take anywhere between a few days to even a whole month or more to get your police report approved and then put into their system. I’ve done it before against my sister. Filing the report only took me a few minutes (and I even had photos to add), but my local PD took a little over a month to finally process and have it officially filed.
Filing a police report online won’t mean that anyone is gonna get arrested, but what it’s good for is having an official record of things. This comes in handy in case there ever comes a day where you have to call the cops on said-person because not only will they have to make a report about whatever it is you called them for, but they’ll also have a record of said-person’s history which gives you a stronger case against the other person.
Definitely keep track of things. Like log dates and times. Take screenshots of your bank statements (censor or crop out sensitive info, just screenshot anything that says money was taken out / spent when it wasn’t you), etc.
If you file a police report and you have a photo that shows any sort of proof money was taken out (and you provide info in the report that you didn’t even have access to the card yet money was still somehow used while your mom had it) that can help a lot, too.
Best of luck to you. Hopefully this never happens to you again though. anonymous 12 hours ago
