Appreciate what you have

Appreciate what you have

About ten minutes ago, I watched a video titled “This Video Will Make You Cry”, which has almost 9 million views. I recommend you don’t read this rant right now until you finish the video, unless you’d rather read the rant.

In the video, a man named Marc told an audience of how he learned not to take things for granted. He used to play football with his friends, who he now refers to as “losers”. In one football game, his mother loudly cheered him on. When asked if she was his mother, Marc denied that he even knew her.

He went out late at night to drink with his friends, when he returned to his house at 2:00 a.m., which had its lights still on. He walked in to the greeted by his mother, when he snapped at her to leave him alone. He went to a hotel to have his privacy.

At 3:00 a.m., he got a call telling him, after hesitating twice, that his mother died. He threw down the phone and ran out of the hotel and through the streets, apologizing tearfully to his now late mother. It was this moment that taught him never to take things for granted.

Halfway through the video, I was bawling my eyes out. I didn’t just feel bad for Marc for losing his mother. I didn’t just feel bad for his mother. I feel bad for a lot of the world; they tend to take things for granted. They don’t notice that the most important things in their lives have been right in front of them this whole time.

Let that be a few lessons:
•Never do drugs.
•Never stay out past curfew.
•Never hang out with people who are morally incorrect.
•Most importantly, appreciate what you have; you will lose it eventually, so enjoy it while you can.
